Who:  Jay Clayton, Mel Case
When:  During the recreation period
Where:  Library
What:  Just meeting
Rating: PG - For Jay lovin' on the books

Mel laid down the book he was reading as he unfastened the small hair clip which held the right side of his hair back, and looked around the library idly, making sure that people were at the least behaving to an extent that no one was trying to kill someone else.

As he had noted earlier that morning, when he came in to start his new job, the library was really quite well stocked for being in a prison, and he felt there would be more than a few people who might complain about the wasted funds for prisoners who were so bad as to get into the Underground Hotel, or better known as the UGH.  But for him, he thought it was fine.

Some of these guys would actually get out before they died, and perhaps reading would help them to find something they needed.  It had done it for him when he was a child and needed away from the noise of his brothers and sister for a while.  Sure, they were still noisy in the background, but he'd be so immersed in whatever he was reading, he'd hardly notice unless it became necessary.

Content that things seemed peaceful for the moment, he drew his hair back a bit and re-clipped it, before lifting the book he was reading again.  Anyone passing by could easily read the title and author, since it was a new book and thus hardbound.  In bright letters it read 'Vampire of North Beach: In the Shadows', and below it, it specified the author, King Clayton in just as large, and just as bright, lettering.

Jay couldn't help but chuckle softly. After all, he and King were not blood related, there was no similarities between them in looks. Jay had fair skin, salt and pepper colured locks and slightly oriental features, King on the otherhand had long wavy chesnut hair and slightly darker skin.

He nodded at the librarian, smiling soft. "That's because he's my brother." He stated, that smile never leaving his lips. "My older brother."

Jay shrugged his shoulders. "I guess it is." He answered in regards to the question. He looked away, for a moment, a hint of shame dancing in his eyes. He hated the thought that King could be ashamed of him, and that he had possibly given King bad publicity - after all, his own crimes almost mimiced those of the vampires in King's books. He let out a soft sigh and shook the thoughts away, resting his hands, palm down, on the desk.

"Ah... did the new Ross Michael's book arrive yet? The other Librarian told me it was on order, 'Fire Skies' it's called."

Jay smiled and bounded off to the shelves returning moments later, carrying the aforementioned book in his hands, setting it down on the desk - this time very carefully and quietly. "In that case, I'd like to check it out, I've been wanting to get my hands on this beauty since it was released. It's supposed to be so good!"

Yup, Jay and books, was very much like a kid and candy!! The smell of old books, the feel of new books, the first fold of the cover, all of it!! It was like a drug!

He smiled and scooped up the book, hugging it to his chest. "It's a fantasy book, I hope it's as good as his other books, and as good as the reviews say!"

He gave the book a long sniff, inhaling new paper smell and hard back leather scent. "You should try reading his stuff sometime, it's good!"

Jay chuckled soft. "I've always loved books, I guess it comes from growing up around King. I had hundred of books before I was arrested. And down here, without books, the bordom would kill me pretty quickly, besides there's only so much sex you can have. Books fill in the gaps between - or does sex fill the gaps between reading? I'm not really sure."

Another chuckle escaped Jay. "Oh, I've always been aware of my body and how to use it to full advantage." He said, a slight purr passing his lips. It was true, he'd never been shy about his body or showing it off, he'd had countless flings, but few people he truly cared for, and he was beginning to think Mika fell more and more into that small number.

Book still clutched to his chest, Jay gave a half-smirk, half-grin. "Sorry kiddo, I got my eye on someone else. Trouble maker with red hair, no doubt you'll bump into him soon enough!" After all, every member of staff seemed to run into Michael eventually!

"But hey, if I find a gap in my social calendar, I'll call you for a date."

Jay took the offered hand, giving it a shake. "Nice to meet you, Mel, and yeah, he is rather fiery. Very fiery in fact."

He gave a joking salute. "See you around, chief. I'll be back for more books soon enough!"

Jay held his book close, returning Mel's look with a playful smirk, before heading out of the library to head back to the cell.
