It was his first day out of Solitary, though in truth he'd only spent a few hours there before Kain took him out, where he spent the week in Kain's office, and of course that one secret trip to the surface.

He'd been a little worried when he returned to Level 3. Visions of being attacked by Sword's men or other inmates for his actions laid heavy on his mind. Although, in fact he'd been approached by Sword's men and told since he'd been the one to take Sword down, then he should take the place of Shutcall. He knew it would be wise in the long run - keep Sword's throne warm for him - but it showed just how unloyal people in UGH were, instantly turning their backs on one for someone seen stronger.

He sat at the table where Sword usually sat, surrounded by those men, that he guessed for the time being were now his men. It was certainly a strange feeling.

The confident stride of boots signified the arrival of the young Cheif Guard, Ky Kiske. He was young, not quite out of his teens, with blonde hair and good-hearted blue eyes. His uniform-- that of an International Police Force captain, not a guard-- seemed like it might have belonged on someone older, but he held himself with pride, and there was strength in his gaze.

He approached the new shut-call's table, setting a gloved hand down on the table surface, sharply blue eyes searching out the leader among the group. He had recently been appointed, and most of his knowledge stemmed from reports and rumors.

"Which one of you calls yourself the shut-call?"

Ky met the prisoner's gaze with the practiced calm of someone who'd seen a lot of terrible things at a young age, unfazed and unintimidated. He gave Sen an analytical once over of his own, a touch skeptical. Somehow, he'd imagined the shut-call to be... Well, bigger, maybe.

"My name is Ky Kiske, " the blonde introduced himself with habitual politeness. "I've been appointed the Cheif Guard here, and I understand that prisoners are under the impression that the shut-call runs things around here." He pursed full lips briefly. "I want to make it clear that I don't care who you are-- I expect you to follow the rules."

Such were the thoughts of an idealistic boy, who believed in justice, who believed in only good and evil.

"The purpose of your stay here is to fix your rule-breaking habits, " Ky responded curtly, folding his arms loosely over his chest. "I have every intention of enforcing the policies."

The young police captain's blue eyes seemed to lose some of their hard edge at Sen's statement, however. "I appreciate your cooperation, ah..." He paused, the openly thoughtful look on his face complimenting his boyish features far more than the stern one ever had. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."

Ky frowned a little at Sen's reply, not sure if he was being made fun of or not, but disarmed by the inmate's easy smile. Showing a hint of his more naive side, he smiled faintly in return, a gentle expression that smoothed out his features and warmed the blue of his eyes.

"Sen, " the young guard echoed, as if saying the name to remember it. "I have to admit that went better than I thought it would." Another light smile. "I hope you'll continue to observe the rules." Then a pause. "Are there any prisoners I should be particularly aware of? Trouble-makers?"

Defiance flared in blue eyes at Sen's remark. "I think my experience more than makes up for my age, " Ky responded a touch shortly, that mildly stern look returning to his features. "Believe me, I wouldn't have been appointed by the International Police Force if they didn't believe me capable of handling myself."

Then, more gently: "I appreciate the warning. But I assure you, I can take care of myself." He paused again, considering Sen for a moment, watching him with thoughtfulness. It was hard to think that the prisoners here would actually lay hands on the Cheif Guard, but he wouldn't put it past them. "If you ever have concerns, I hope you'll come and address then with me."

Ky pushed down the distaste twisting his stomach. This was a place where corruption ran free. He'd have a lot of work on his hands if he wanted to fix things, to install real justice. But no task was too big.

"I appreciate your time, " the blond guard responded at length. "Hopefully, the next time I see you, it won't be a matter of discipline." He offered a small smile, then turned to go.
