Who: Sen, Brian
When: Daytime
Where: Cafeteria
What: Talking
Rating: PG
Brian moves through the cafeteria with his two books and a tray all balanced in his good arm. He glances around the room, looking a little distraught before finding a place that only has a few people at the other end of the long table. He sits and immediately checks his books for damage.
Sen takes his tray back, handing it to the kitchen staff, apple and juice carton still in hand. He catches sight of Brian and moves over to him, flopping beside him. "Hey, long time no see."
Satisfied his books are safe, he adjusts the strap on his sling and smiles at Sen. "You haven't come for the honey. It'll go bad if it's not used."
"Maybe later." Sen says, taking a bite of his apple. He frowns when he saw the sling. "What happened to you? Someone giving you trouble?"
Brian's smile fades as he looks down at his tray as if he's interested in what is on it. "I fell."
Sen raises an eyebrow. "You fell?" He doesn't really believe that, as he takes another bite of his apple.
Brian nods as he pushes his food around with a spork. "I think the doctor didn't fix it right. He was in a hurry to... give the guy that brought me there a check-up."
Sen frowns a little. "You should see Damon, he's a really good doctor. He fixed Sword up, and my arm real good."
Brian presses his lips together. "I don't know Damon."
"You should look him up. Like I say, he looked after Sword really well. He's actually interested in your health and not where you're a good lay or not." He reaches out, picking up one of Brian's books.
Brian drops his spork to slap his hand down on the book Sen touches. "Keep it secret, Owari Sen." He looks down at the book and slowly pulls his hand away. "No one knows."
Sen moves his hand away, picking up his juice carton. "You, are a strange man, Brian."
Brian smiles weakly. "And creepy. Don't forget creepy." He chuckles, spooning some food into his mouth.
Sen chuckles softly, wiping the table with his sleeve to ensure it's clean before setting the book on it, opening it. "I wouldn't say creepy. Just... weird."
The book is full of plants, pictures and properties, giving full details on which are poisonous and to what extent.
"Donovan says I'm creepy."
Sen glances over the pages, half-reading. "Who's Donovan?"
"An inmate."
Sen smiles at Brian a little. "Making friends, huh? Even if he does think you're creepy?"
"He's young." Brian puts the spork down to pick up what he believes to be a green bean. "He's nice."
Sen takes another sip of juice, being careful not to get it on the book. "The place has been buzzing with new life lately."
Brian puts the bean back on his tray as he looks over at Sen. "They let us have a garden?"
Sen blinks. "Huh?" Brian was so hard to read.
"You said new life." He blinks back at Sen.
"New inmates, I mean." Sen replies, closing the book and handing it back to Brian.
Brian smiles as he takes his book back. No. Sen wouldn't know what to do with the things inside. Not many would. He pets the spine a little then looks back at Sen. "Carelessness is easy. The overconfident get caught."
Sen shrugs. "I guess that's true enough." He takes another sip of his juice, shaking the carton a little. "Were you overconfident?"
Brian glances around, making sure no one is near them to hear. "I wanted them to know." He giggles, leaning closer to Sen as he continues to whisper. "All of them."
Sen shifts away a little, feeling a little uncomfortable. "'Them' being?"
"Don't you read the paper, Sen? The murderers, of course!" He laughs a maniacal little laugh. "They all deserved to die
Sen shifts again. "But... surely that makes you a murderer too, and no better than them?"
Brian frowns at Sen, poking his lip out in a pout that makes him look quite younger than he is. "They started it." He pouts at Sen for a minute more before his face brightens in a sweet smile. "I just finished it."
Sen watches him, studying his face. "What about me? I'm a murderer too."
Brian giggles, giving Sen that 'oh you' look. "Come now, Owari Sen. Everybody knows you didn't do it." He tilts his head with a blink. "Or is that just me. Hmmm."
Sen grits his teeth. "Of course I did it. I wouldn't be here if I hadn't."
Brian lightly pets Sen's thigh. "Easy, easy. Love makes us do strange things." He lowers his chin, leaving his eyes on Sen. "Do you remember what she looks like?" Of course Brian reads the papers.
Sen frowns, giving a nod. "Of course I remember." Although the details were beginning to fade a little, the more time he spent in UGH with Sword.
"Visits are funny things, aren't they?" Brian hmms as he drinks from his carton of chocolate milk from a straw. Who knows where he got a straw. "Tell me."
Sen shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I've never had one. No visits. no letters. nothing."
"Maybe I'll write you a letter." Brian smiles and sets his milk down. "Could he fight back?"
Sen looks at Brian, blinking a little. "Huh? Who?"
"The man that was shot. Could he fight back?"
Sen stares at the table. Not wanting to reveal the truth. His jaw tenses. "No. Does it matter. I shot him, that's all that matters."
"It does matter."
Sen lifts his gaze to look at Brian. "Why? He's dead."
Brian smiles softly, petting Sen's hand. "You're not a bad person, Owari Sen."
"Maybe not, but I shot him. Filled him full of bullets."
Brian wrinkles his nose. "So messy."
"Mm. It was." He looks at Brian, crushing his juice carton.
Brian giggles. "Oh Sen. Can I hug you?"
Sen blinks. "Um... sure?"
Brian reaches over with his good arm to hug Sen tightly. "Secrets are best kept secret, Owari Sen," he whispers.
Sen nods. "They are..." He agrees, still not really comfortable.
Brian leans his head on Sen's shoulder. "Um-hmm."
"You have secrets, other than the book?" He asks, petting Brian's head.
Brian chuckles softly. "I know lots of secrets."
"Care to share any?"
Brian gives Sen a reprimanding look. "Then they aren't secrets anymore."
Sen chuckles. "But my curiousity will be satisfied."
Brian purses his lips. "Hmmm. Did you know that Swordfish watches you sleep?"
"Probably plotting the best way to kill me." He chuckles, blushing a little.
Brian smirks. "Of course."
Sen blushes more, biting his lip a little. "Anything else?"
"Too greedy!" Brian moves away from Sen to look at his tray with a sigh. "I'm getting too skinny."
Sen pushes the half eaten apple in front of Brian. "Don't be so picky about eating cafeteria food then."
Brian takes the apple with a smile and bites into it. "But it's... gross."
"It's food." Sen replies, shrugging. "We can't afford to be fussy."
Brian closes his eyes as he enjoys the apple. "Do you think I could have a green house?"
"Wouldn't be much good without sun."
"There are special lights."
Sen shrugs. "I dunno. Maybe. You should ask Mutou."
Brian nods, quickly finishing the apple. "Maybe I'll make an appointment."
"Worst he can do is say no!" Sen replies with a grin.
Brian slips a hand into Sen's after wiping the apple juice from it. "Will you go with me?"
Sen shifts a little with a frown. "Sure, if you want me to."
Brian nods excitedly, making his hair flop on his forehead. "I do."
